Parent Education and Personal Development Programme - Session 5

Ms. Andria Griffith on the National Nutrition Centre spoke on "You and You Child, Diet and Nutrition". She emphasized using what you have. And briefly discussed the essential basket of goods. Ms Griffith encouraged the use of local foods and discussed fun and easy ways of using leftovers at home. The group was also encouraged to learn and share with each other how to go about food health and its importance and impact on development.

Mr. Saul Leacock focused on building relationships at every age and every stage of your child's development. Touching on different types of relationships, pros and cons for positive relationship building, he encouraged attendees to do things differently. Mr. Leacock reminded that relationships are bidirectional and must include effective communication by listening and connecting.

Mr. Lennox Rochester discussed mental health and the importance of defining it accurately to ourselves. He encouraged the participants to accept that we all have mental health issues and approached the healing process with the use of case examples, tips and strategies to go forward.

Stating Mental Health is NOT a death sentence and that there are coping strategies which are proven to be successful in helping individuals.

Participants shared stories as usual and benefited from an impactful and enjoyable session.
