Parent Education and Personal Development Programme – Session 9

Parent Education and Personal Development Programme - Session 9

The Clarkson Foundation Inc. hosted an entrepreneurial panel presentation on 23rd March, 2024 for its ninth and last session of its recent parent education and personal development programme.

21 participants heard a fascinating discussion by Markiesha Alleyne, the National Transformation Initiative's lead on e-learning and innovation, the Ministry of Labour's Vocational Counsellor Joycelyn Watts, the Trust Fund's Business Development Officer Neisha Holder, Damien Morris, the Career Counsellor of the Vocational Training Board and our own Joshua Forte, an entrepreneur and 2023 National Youth award winner.

The importance of effective communication, wise decision-making, problem-solving ability, effective listening, proper money management and spending tracking as well as resilience were all emphasized. The necessity of having the right attitude, a passion for what you are doing and the willingness to make sacrifices were all identified as keys to a successful businesses or venture.

The participants as usual engaged tremendously with the panelists on their presentations. Thanks immensely for the assistance from Suasan Packer, Donna Turney and Stacey Medford.

Thanks to Minister in the Economic Affairs Ministry, Chad Blackman, for visiting and seeing how we do it in St. James North.

We all now look forward with high expectations to participants' preparation on 13th April for the mock interviews which will be held on the Saturday following, 20th April.
