Parent Education and Personal Development Programme - Session 10

On Saturday 13th April, 2024, twenty-five participants experienced the expertise of Ms. Paulavette Atkinson, longstanding National Council for Substance Abuse officer, who addressed them on the importance of drug awareness and sensitised them to the various illegal drugs in circulation in Barbados.
This session included an assimilation exercise on abuse of illegal substances and excessive alcohol and their negative impact on individuals. Ms. Laura Harewood, HR Business Partner of the Barbados Light and Power Co., presented the second session informing of the dos and don'ts in writing curriculum vitae as well as on how to prepare for job interviews. Both sessions saw a high level of engagement from participants.
The Clarkson Foundation Inc. ends this segment of its parent education and personal development programme next week with mock interview exercises for participants to be held at Mt. Zion Missions Church in 4th Avenue Rock Dundo.
We immensely thank the principal of Gordon Greenidge Primary School, Mrs. Mary Archer, for permitting us the use of this school over the last 2 and a half months for our programme. We thank Ms. Donna Turney, Ms. Suasan Packer and Ms. Keela Jordan for assisting in looking after the sixteen children last Saturday whilst their parents participated in the sessions.
